INTRODUCTION
Parenteral nutrition is modern medical miracle for patients with gastrointestinal issues that need nutrition. However, parenteral nutrition has some potential risks and long-term side effects. Therefore, the biggest question about parenteral nutrition is who to start it on and when?
Latest Guidance on Parenteral Nutrition will examine new guidelines concerning the decision on when parenteral nutrition should be started and on whom, the importance of monitoring nutrition needs and when to make adjustments, and how to limit the potential risks to get the best outcomes in those patients that require this lifesaving therapy.

• Know the indications that guide the decision for initiation of PN in children
• Use nutrition assessment and growth patterns to discern if PN is indicated for a pediatric patient
• Articulate the recommended monitoring for the patients that are on PN

NASPGHAN is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
CREDIT DESIGNATION STATEMENT
NASPGHAN designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
ABP MOC PART 2 CREDITS
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the activity, with individual assessments of the participant and feedback to the participant, enables the participant to earn 1.0 MOC Part 2 points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit. Live Activity: Participant must complete the evaluation within 30 days of the activity. Participant information will be uploaded to ABP 30 days post activity.
